On May 29 of each year, the Day of the Elderly is celebrated throughout the Venezuelan territory; a special date that seeks to pay a special tribute to all the elderly and grandparents who with their love, dedication, effort and wisdom are dedicated to raising their families.
The celebration of the Day of the Elderly was originally carried out in many countries, by resolution of the United Nations, however with the passage of time, countries were removing this event from their calendars. Venezuela is one of the few countries that still celebrates this special date.
Why is the Day of the Elderly celebrated on May 29?
In order to rescue their wisdom, affection and important work in the education of the people of today, the Venezuelan authorities had one day a year to celebrate such an important social anniversary in favor of our predecessors. In this way, the Day of the Elderly was set for May 29.
This day is also a special date to reflect on the abuse of the elderly, which according to the WHO is a general global problem. But also to expand the conditions and services to increase their quality and life expectancy.
By commemorating May 29 , the Day of the Elderly in Venezuela , we send all grandparents and adults a very special greeting and our wishes that life will grant them many more years of vitality.
